My Story

Hi, I'm Maya, founder of Mishrit by Maya :)

I'm mixed-race and neurodivergent, and I've loved everything and anything jewellery and fashion for as long as I can remember. Growing up in a British-Indian household, my weekends were split between extra curriculars like ballet or gymnastics or between the temple or at Kumon, not to mention the countless Asian weddings which I loved because it meant I got to dress up and try on all my mum's jewellery — however at my school, which was predominantly white, it was a different story. I'd keep my hoops and jhumkas subtle enough to blend in. Even then, the pieces I did wear never went unnoticed: friends were forever asking where they were from and how they could get their own.

That was the lightbulb moment. I'm a deeply creative person and I wanted to build something around a passion of mine — but I'd also grown frustrated watching brands lift traditional South Asian designs and rebrand them as 'new' trends, stripped of the culture they came from.

Mishrit by Maya is my answer: jewellery that brings both sides of my heritage together and gives that heritage the credit it deserves. Mixed by heritage, united by style.

What we believe

Jewellery should outlive trends — and us.

01

Slow by design

Small editions, hand-poured. When a piece sells out, the next batch takes weeks — not minutes.

02

Honest materials

925 sterling silver with micron gold plating and then cubic zircona ethically sourced stones.

03

Living heritage

We work directly with ethical manufacturers in India to ensure excellent authentic craftsmanship.

The Atelier

Jaipur, by hand.

Our karigars use techniques passed down for over a century — kundan setting, filigree wirework, and lost-wax casting. No factory floor. No conveyor belt. Just patience, fire, and a steady hand.
